The Thai language major was established in 2007 and admits one small class for teaching each year. At present, there are 6 teachers with extensive overseas study experience. In 2021, it was selected as a national first-class undergraduate program, and it was rated A in the 2024 Shanghai Ranking's National Ranking of Academic Subjects., ranking 5th nationwide.

Educational Objectives: This Program aims to cultivate innovative Thai language talents with international perspectives, familiar with international rules, master Thai language, literature, culture and other related knowledge, and possess the ability to use Thai and English languages and intercultural competence.

Main Courses: Basic Thai, Thai Oral Language, Thai Listening, Thai Reading, Thai Writing, Thai Viewing, Listening and Speaking, Thai News Listening and Translation, Thai Literature, Advanced Thai, Thai Interpreting and Translation, Business Thai, Tourism Thai, Comparative Thai and Chinese Culture, Southeast Asian Overview, Thai Society and Culture, Appreciation of Thai Classical Literature, etc.

 

Educational Features: The program features a bilingual teaching model of “Thai + English” and an innovative talent cultivation model of “Language Application + Area Studies.” It adopts a "3.5 + 0.5" model, in which students study domestically for three and a half years and abroad for half a year. In their third year, students study for six months at renowned universities in Thailand, such as Thammasat University.

 

Employment Prospects: Graduates are mainly employed in diplomacy, foreign trade, national security, tourism, science and technology, news publishing houses, and various Chinese and international enterprises. Some graduates pursue master's degrees at prestigious domestic and international universities, engaging in research in fields such as language and literature, translation studies, international law, international relations, and business. The employment rate remains consistently high, with a track record of over 90%.
